Since founding the company in 1973, the Rohrer family maintains a commitment to quality and service to its customers, as well as dedication to its employees. John and David Rohrer started their company in Rittman, Ohio, initially concentrating on carded packaging. Both holding degrees in printing management, they stayed on top of advancements in both technology and printing, a main reason Rohrer Corporation has flourished. Joanne Rohrer joined in 1976 as Treasurer, a role she held until her recent retirement.
The collective success of John, Joanne and David Rohrer and Rohrer Corporation is directly attributed to efficient methods of doing business that are incomparable in the packaging industry: a sound financial base, experienced employees, standards of quality and dependable delivery.
In 1979, Rohrer Corporation moved corporate headquarters to a larger plant in Wadsworth, Ohio, to house the most modern equipment in the industry. The company grew in 1988 and 1997, respectively, as two new facilities in Georgia and Illinois were added to expand pre-press operations and thermoforming capabilities. In 2000, Illinois operations were moved to a new, larger Chicago-area facility, completing the three operation sites that exist today.
In December 2009, ShoreView Industries, a Minneapolis-based private equity firm, invested in Rohrer Corporation as part of a recapitalization and growth plan. The Rohrer family continues to play an active role in the operation and ownership of the business.
