The Rohrer Story
Rohrer Corporation, a specialty converter of skin and blister packaging board, folding cartons and thermoformed
blisters, was founded in 1973. Rohrer is the country's leading supplier of visual
carded packaging.
Rohrer's success is attributed to our sound financial base, experienced employees,
aggressive service, quality orientation, and dependable delivery. Materials are
purchased specifically to meet the unique demands of heat seal cards. Rohrer packaging
experts are qualified to recommend the proper structural materials, to suggest
economical layouts, and to assist with fresh graphic designs.
The story began in 1975 when Rohrer concentrated in carded packaging. In 1979,
the company built a 42,000 square foot plant and corporate offices in Wadsworth, Ohio.
The plant housed the newest and most modern converting and preparation equipment in the
industry. In 1985, a second plant was opened in Anderson, South Carolina
to increase
our capacity and to serve the Southern market.
In 1988, Rohrer bought Colonial Packaging from Engraph. The Anderson facilities moved into
Colonial's larger plant in Norcross, Georgia. This increased the southern plant's
capacity. Over the next six years, sales in the southern plant tripled.
In 1991, Rohrer increased the Wadsworth plant to 86,000 square feet, making improvements
in office, plant, and pre-press. Both plants now included facilities for electronic
pre-press, plate and negative making, die building, and board sheeting. They were also
both equipped with a battery of multicolor printing presses, coating
machines, and modern die
cutting equipment.
The sales growth in the south led to the construction in 1994 of a
state-of-the-art plant of 112,000 square feet in Buford, Georgia. The
Norcross facility moved to Buford where the new plant matched in
every way the Wadsworth capabilities.
In 1997, Rohrer opened a plant in Elgin, Illinois to make thermoformed blisters and clamshells.
This facility was started from the ground up and has grown quickly. Our customers now have
one source for cards and blisters.
Beginning the new millennium, Rohrer purchased the assets and operating
business of Gateway Printing Company of Arlington Heights, Illinois on
January 1, 2000. Gateway's 28,000 square foot plant added printing to
Rohrer's capabilities in serving the Chicago market.
In 2004, Rohrer, having filled to capacity the Elgin plant, constructed a 90,000 square
foot plant in Huntley, Illinois. Both the Elgin and Arlington Heights facilities moved
to Huntley where the new plant was the third operation matching Wadsworth and Buford.
Rohrer Corporation welcomes challenges. Our unique programs offer the highest quality and
the most dependable service in the industry. Our record of success is a true tribute to our
company's dedication to presenting the best products possible. We invite you to visit our Wadsworth, Buford, and Huntley plants. We know you will be impressed.
